I took this news from ( news.com.au) i find it a very shocking discovery about obesity culture in this land.
Patient too obese for ambulance. RAAF Flight is called
QUEENSLAND Health was forced to charter a Hercules aircraft from the Defence Force because it had no ambulances or planes big enough to transport a 240kg patient.*
*The QAS said new Stryker stretchers it was rolling out, costing $6500 each, could carry a patient weighing 220kg – significantly higher than the 136kg standard stretchers could carry. However ambulances interstate are equipped to carry much heavier patients.*
*Russell Ousley from the Royal Flying Doctor Service said its $6m King Air planes were unable to carry patients heavier than about 150kg.*
Just imagine that.. i find it very freaky as people this days are much more heavier and can;t be fit inside a ambulance anymore! scary!
